EX-MĘKH
on MĘKH beach
Impression of the
project:
Image in the catalogue
of Platforms Project 2024
Among 62 platforms
EX-MĘKH will work the ‘on MEKH beach’ installation in booth 35 in the Tobacco
Factory.
The question for us
(EX-MĘKH) for this edition of PP in Athens was how do we give each other space in a place where there is
all space for imagination but physically limited. (3m2).
Imagination
saves.
The image
of the sea, waves, ebb and flow, beach, skies, ever changing, vastness, endless
depth but also sense of air space fuelled by stories, myths, dreams, gruesome tragedy,
and hope.
On the
waves of the sea and in the surf pouring out on the beach, thoughts and
memories wash over you in varied emotions.
Such a
place does something to you; over and over again.
We have
this (psycho) dynamic in mind (although I'm never sure if the others see it in
a similar way) when we think about our yet-to-be-made installation.
We will
spend 4 days working on the installation as on “a beach” where the image is
constantly changing due to all kinds of influences.
At
different moments while working on the installation there will be a
'reflection'. This can also be done with visitors.
We will
tune in like you once searched radio waves looking for a transmitter that came
through clearly.
Then the
considerations will begin, questions like; how do you 'read this'?
What will
play a role these 4 days? Events? Recognitions? Findings? Associations?
Influences? Visitor participation?
On the last
day, under the title Reversal of the Tide! the work will break down into
other elements as with which it was created.
